First, start by not waiting a week after the spill to throw your coffee stained clothes into the wash; this is the worst way in trying to remove the stain. The easiest way to get the stain out is to run to the washroom right after you get the stain. Start by rinsing the stain from the back of the clothing with cold water. While rinsing the stain with cold water, make sure you try and remove as much as the stain as you can. Next, use a liquid detergent and start rubbing it into the stain as much as possible. Let the detergent sink into the clothing for about five minutes. If you wait a few days to get the coffee stain out, soak the detergent into the fabric for about thirty minutes. After you let the stain soak in the detergent, rinse the stained area very thoroughly so the stain is no longer there.

If the stain is still remains, there are more steps to go. In order to remove this stain, rub more liquid laundry detergent into the fabric where the coffee stain remains. Next, soak in the coffee stained clothing into warm water for about ten to fifteen minutes. Lastly, if the coffee stain still remains and there is no hope in getting the stain out, apply a stain remover stick, gel, or even a spray and let that soak for about five minutes. The last step in removing the coffee stain is to wash the clothing according to the clothing directions.

If the stain is on carpet or upholstery, there is one extra step. The first step is to mix liquid detergent into the stain and rub thoroughly with warm water. The extra step is to mix one third cup of white vinegar with two thirds cup of water into the stain and blot. Last, use a sponge and clean water to clean and soak up the rest of the stain.
